Moon Phases 2025 Temperature cross stitch pattern - maximum temperatures version
IMPORTANT: This is the pattern version for 2025 only. Moon Phases patterns for 2024 can be found here.
The Moon Phases 2025 Temperature Pattern cross stitch booklets contain the charts and full instructions to cross stitch this piece representing the maximum daily temperatures in your area, through 2025. The Moon phases are all placed accurately for each day of the year. The images show example pieces based on temperatures in Southampton, UK - the colour distribution in your piece will be different according to the temperatures in your area, so every piece stitched will be unique.
This is the version of the pattern for maximum (or minimum if you prefer) daily temperatures only. For the version for maximum AND minimum temperatures, please click here.
Three supplementary booklets are included giving the Moon phases charts for 14 time zones. These cover these regions:
• All time zones in Canada (including Atlantic Time and Newfoundland Time)
• All time zones in the United States (including in Alaska and Hawaii)
• Time zones for every country in Europe other than Belarus, Iceland, Russia and Turkey
• Canary Islands time zones (included in the Europe booklet)
• All time zones in Australia
• The main time zone in New Zealand (New Zealand Time)
The example piece shown in the images shows the Moons oriented for the Northern Hemisphere countries included. The Moons are oriented the other way up in the Australia and New Zealand charts.
Note that unlike my other temperature patterns, this pattern is specific to 2025 only - the Moon phases will be different in any other year. This pattern also includes a set of complete temperature colour scales which are different to the colour scales used in my other temperature patterns.
Each Moon on the chart represents one day of the year. The months are arranged in horizontal rows and stitched from left to right. The Moon phase is stitched in the colour corresponding to the maximum (or minimum) temperature for that day. For New Moons, the outline of the Moon is backstitched in the appropriate colour.
The design can be stitched on almost any fabric of your colour choice. Two pattern keys are given for the design border with colours suitable for both dark and pale fabrics, and the colours can easily be changed further to suit your fabric if needed. Example images are shown on both black and pale blue fabrics.
Very comprehensive instructions are included, explaining how to adapt the temperature colour ranges to your location. You don't need to worry if you live in a hot or cold climate, or if the temperature goes between extremes - you will adapt the colours to your own temperature range, so that you will still stitch with colours across the full spectrum. You can use either Fahrenheit or Celsius scales for your temperatures.
A full alphabet is included so that you can personalise your piece with your location.
If you don't live in a major populated area you might want to check that your area is covered by temperature websites, unless you are recording temperatures yourself. I recommend looking at:
www.accuweather.com
www.wunderground.com
www.timeanddate.com
On AccuWeather, if you search for your location and click on “monthly”, it will give you temperatures for all the months of the current year. In the settings (top right of the website) you can change between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Time and Date allows you to choose Fahrenheit or Celsius.
I've put this pattern in the Stitchalongs category because it is a stitchalong in the sense that you don't know exactly what your piece will look like at the end of the year, and that lots of people in the Facebook group will be sharing their pieces - please do join us at www.facebook.com/groups/climbinggoatdesigns However please note that it is very different from the other stitchalongs because you will receive everything in instant download PDFs when you purchase - there are no mystery monthly instalments.
The stitched area of the finished piece, including the border is:
295 stitches wide x 189 stitches high
On 14 count fabric this is approximately 21.1 x 13.5 inches or 53.5 x 34.3 cm
On 16 count fabric this is approximately 18.4 x 11.8 inches or 46.7 x 30.0 cm
The stitched area of just the Moon phases, not including any border elements, is:
247 stitches wide x 117 stitches high
On 14 count fabric this is approximately 17.6 x 8.4 inches or 44.8 x 21.2 cm
On 16 count fabric this is approximately 15.4 x 7.3 inches or 39.1 x 18.5 cm
These dimensions do not include the border of fabric you will need to leave around the design.
The pattern uses full cross stitches and backstitch. Fractional cross stitches and fractional backstitch are also used in the border elements and text. The Moons themselves use only full stitches. There are no French knots.
The design is suitable for people with experience of cross stitch.
